Inspiration: What magazine designers can learn from movie posters

Magazine, and in some cases, newspaper front pages are not that different from movie posters.

They share the same core ingredients: headlines, photos, text and art. Above all they aim to sell a story and to entice the observer to want to discover more.

From the highly typographic Trainspotting poster, to the perfect photo selection of American Beauty and the romance of the illustrative Casablanca, each poster has a clear concept and a unique way of asking a question or striking an emotion from the reader.

These amazing works are a credit to the direction and artistry of legendary poster designers like Drew Struzan and Bill Gold.
